Join us for an evening of wine and cheese as speaker John O'Brien discusses the history of Ocean Boulevard from the 1900 through present day. The history of Ocean Boulevard, the beautiful block of oceanfront mansions and manicured lawns stretching from the Hotel del Coronado to Sunset Park, is an intriguing one. At the turn of the twentieth century, Ocean Boulevard was struck by severe thunderstorms that ravished the land, damaging many of the home-fronts. “Winds and ocean waves played havoc with Ocean Boulevard, beating it with such tremendous force that the entire street was undermined,” wrote Katherine Carlin and Ray Brandes in Coronado: The Enchanted Island. In efforts to combat the forces of Mother Nature, a seawall was constructed along the boulevard in 1906. From there, the history continues. John O'Brien will open the door to this history during his talk. Please join us!
As the founder of Flagg Coastal Homes, O’Brien has discovered a great deal about this history, and especially about the development of homes along Ocean Boulevard. In fact, with Flagg Coastal Homes as the designer/builder and Flagship as the broker, O’Brien and his team have been involved with seven Ocean Boulevard homes and an additional eight ocean-view homes in the Sunset Park area.
O’Brien is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, former Naval Officer (PT-Boat skipper, PTF-22) and a 37-year veteran of Southern California Real Estate Development, Brokerage and Construction. O’Brien first created Flagg Coastal Homes as a Design Build Custom Homebuilder “in response to the demand for nautically inspired homes” according to the company’s website.
