The Library hosts open chess play on the second Thursday of every month between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. in the Winn Room. Enjoy playing chess with others, or learn to play or improve your game with help from facilitator and local chess coach Chuck McClung. Chess boards and pieces provided. Open to all adults age 18 and older.

Chuck McClung is a lifelong chess enthusiast and played in his first chess tournament over 40 years ago. He works as a consultant for the Mountain Lake Chess Camp, the oldest chess-teaching company in San Diego. Chuck is also the current Category C World Champion on the website chessworld.net.
